Privacy Policy
The short version: Hangman Fold doesn't collect, store or share any personal information. There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no accounts.
What the app collects
No personal information. Hangman Fold has no account system of its own, shows no ads, and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code from us or anyone else. Classic, Daily Word, Blitz and Pass & Play work fully offline. The app doesn't use your camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos.
The only things that leave your device are part of the game itself, and only through Apple's Game Center when you're signed in to it: the moves of an online match (the words the two of you set for each other, and the letters guessed), so your opponent's phone can show the same game, and your best scores, for the leaderboards. They're used only to run the match and the leaderboards, aren't linked to your identity by us, and are never used for tracking or advertising. The App Store lists this as "Gameplay Content, not linked to you". More on this under Game Center, online play and leaderboards below.
Pass & Play happens entirely on one device. Nothing about either player is sent anywhere.
What stays on your device
The app remembers your settings and records so they're there next time you play: whether sound and vibration are on, the world, category and difficulty you picked, your Daily Word streaks, your best Blitz score, and your stats (words played and found, your Classic runs and bests, and the worlds you've earned by playing). These are saved on your device only. The app never sends them anywhere, we can't see them, and they're deleted when you delete the app.
Like any app's settings, they can be included in your own device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) if you use them. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple, not by us.
In-app purchases
Hangman Fold offers optional one-time purchases that unlock more worlds. If you buy one, Apple processes the purchase through the App Store with your Apple Account. We never receive your name, card number or any other payment details. The app only learns from Apple which worlds have been bought, so it can unlock them and restore them on your other devices. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Information Apple shares with developers
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may give us crash reports and overall statistics, such as how many people downloaded the app. Apple gathers these, not the app, and they don't tell us who you are. You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Game Center, online play and leaderboards
Online play and the leaderboards use Apple's Game Center. If you're already signed in to Game Center on your device, the app signs in when it opens; otherwise it only asks when you open Online or Stats & Leaderboards. While you're signed in, your best scores (high score, longest streak, best Blitz score and longest Daily Word streak) are posted to the Hangman Fold leaderboards, where other players see them next to your Game Center nickname. To show how your friends rank, Game Center asks first whether the app may see your Game Center friends list; it's used only to show their scores and isn't stored by us.
Game Center shows your Game Center nickname to the players you invite or are matched with. Each online match saves the moves of that game (the words set and the letters guessed) with Game Center so both phones can show the same game; your opponent's copy of the app reads it. The words you can send are checked against a dictionary and a clean-word list first. Apple runs Game Center, delivers the "your turn" notifications, and stores the matches; we don't run any server, and we don't receive or keep your Game Center information. You can sign out of Game Center, or turn off invites and nearby players, in Settings > Game Center. Game Center is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Children
Because Hangman Fold collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date before the change takes effect.
